Pancreatin pellets
Pancreatin Pellet Production
Pancreatic enzymes medicinal products (Pancrelipase) are used to diagnose pancreatic insufficiency. Pancreatin contains protease, lipase, and amylase enzymes that are inactivated by stomach acid and heat. The product should be taken with food (but not mixed with very hot food). Clinically used pancreatin products are all of animal origin. The dosage is adjusted according to the size, number, and consistency of the stools. Undesirable side effects include irritation of the mouth and perianal skin, nausea, vomiting, and abdominal discomfort. Some of the stronger formulations of pancreatin should be avoided in children under 15 years of age with cystic fibrosis, as these formulations have been associated with the formation of colonic strictures.
